Aims of BACP Healthcare  

BACP Healthcare

promoting and supporting excellence in healthcare counselling and psychotherapy

BACP Healthcare is a division of BACP with approaching 2,000 members and is a forum for providers of psychological therapies in healthcare settings, either within the public, private and/or the third sector. Most BACP Healthcare members work in the NHS in primary, secondary and/or palliative care.

Shared aims of BACP and BACP Healthcare

To promote and support:

  • Patient choice
  • Accessible services
  • Competent, professional therapists
  • Effective and efficient service delivery.

BACP Healthcare delivers its aims in partnership with BACP by providing:

  • Information to the public - email bacp@bacp.co.uk
  • Information to members - on issues such as Agenda for Change, ethics, and research - email healthcare@bacp.co.uk
  • Consultation with government departments and associated agencies in the four British nations
  • Publications - including a quarterly journal, best practice guidelines, information sheets and commissioned research
  • Training and CPD opportunities for counsellors such as training events and conferences
  • Support to regional networks of NHS counsellors and interest groups.
